Fujitsu Siemens Computers to leave PDA market    [ 13-08-2007 09:48 ]

Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) confirmed it will leave the PDA and Personal Navigation Assistant market till the end of 2007. Eventually this means the end of the new Windows Mobile Pocket Loox devices.

Amy Fletcher, a spokesperson of FSC, said that the company made this decision after examining the traditional PDA market, which is shrinking currently. A number of suppliers have been already adapting business to new conditions, ceasing to release PDA and shifting to smartphones and communicators, despite all respective difficulties. But FSC doesn’t plan to invest in this direction, said Amy Flecher.

Now another heavyweight has abandoned the market following Dell. In reality, Pocket Loox T-series communicators are bulky and expensive to make competition to other manufacturers. No wonder that FSC doesn’t see prospects of this market segment.
