Cingular announces the BlackJack smartphone    [ 13-11-2006 20:20 ]

The American operator Cingular Wireless together with Samsung and Microsoft has announced a new smartphone BlackJack, also known as the SGH-i607. This is a slim smartphone with a landscape-oriented display and a QWERTY-keyboard under it.

It is powered by Windows Mobile 5.0. The smartphone features wide communication opportunities – GSM networks (GPRS and EDGE) and UMTS and HSPDA high speed data transfer standard. There is the support of Bluetooth 2.0 interface. In the release there is no info on the support of Wi-Fi. The display has a QVGA (320x240 pixels) resolution, and the camera – 1.3-megapixels.

The operator will release the smartphone in mid November, i.e. the other day. After all discounts and with the service plan the price will make up $199.99.

Krusell, the Swedish maker of mobile phone carrying cases, has published its traditional monthly rating mobile phones. The leader is the same like in the previous month – Sony Ericsson K790i/K800i.

The popularity of navigation equipment designed for car use mainly is ever growing. Another announcement has been made by Sanyo, which introduced a multi-purpose GPS-navigator.

The device is called the NVM-4030 and features a 4” touchscreen LCD, voice control, preinstalled maps, 1GB SD card in the kit, the support of MP3, WMA and WAV formats. Due to the support of Bluetooth it’s possible to use the navigator as a speakerphone car system. Sanyo NVM-4030 will cost $400.

In the Internet you can come across the info on a new communicator – E-Ten M700. The announcement is expected in November. And now we have some preliminary info.

The M700 is said to inherit from E-Ten Glofiish X500 the support of GPS and Wi-Fi. The model will be the first in the lineup to have a sliding QWERTY-keyboard.

The communicator is expected to support 3G networks and carry 256 MB of flash ROM onboard. Some sources name smaller memory size – 128 MB.
