Author: Kozlov Alexey     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

During the report by Sean Maloney, vice CEO of Intel, at IDF (Intel Developer Forum) they also discussed upcoming Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC), which are positioned as the new category of mobile devices in small form-factor. The first UMPC-devices are expected to be introduced by main OEM-makers already this quarter.

I’d note that there appeared a new page devoted to UMPC at the Intel website. There you can read that these devices feature full value PC functionality based on Intel architecture, full operating system and permanent access to the Internet.

It will support e-mail, IM, chats and blogs, video, audio and graphical content, games and TV programs and also office applications. Wide communication opportunities include WPAN, WLAN and WWAN.
