ROKR E2 music phone enjoys success in China    [ 22-06-2006 14:50 ]

Motorola has introduced its music phone ROKR E2 early this year. In May it was announced it Hong Kong at Music Matters Hong Kong event, and today the company said the users in China got the opportunity to be the first buyers of this phone, which is already available in GOME shops. During several days it has become the bestseller.

Here you can read the review of the ROKR E2. By the way, at our forum are still discussions about the camera in the phone, whether it will be a 2- or 1.3-megapixel camera. However the press release issued today and the Chinese site of Motorola mention a 1.3-megapixel camera. More shipments of ROKR E2 are set for the end of this summer.

At CommunicAsia 2006 in Singapore Motorola has introduced its new device – Motorola T305 Portable Bluetooth Car Kit.

It has noise and echo effect reduction system and a speaker 1 Watt. There is the support of voice dialing. By pushing a multi-functional button you can answer or end the call. There is Bluetooth 2.0 interface to connect to other devices.

The device can be recharged via miniUSB. Battery life in talk mode makes up 12 hours and in standby mode – 200 hours. Motorola T305 Portable Bluetooth Car Kit is expected in shops in the second half 2006.

Сегодня компании Nokia и Sanyo объявили о том, что объявленное ранее 14 февраля соглашение о формировании совместного предприятия, которое бы занималось производством мобильных телефонов стандарта CDMA, отменяется и все дальнейшие переговоры по этому вопросу прекращаются.

В свою очередь компания Nokia заявила о реструктуризации своего CDMA бизнеса, для чего она запланировала дополнительные затраты в размере 150 млн. Евро.

Some preliminary info on the upcoming, but not yet officially introduced cell phone BenQ-Siemens E81 has already popped up in the Internet. Now the German site Modopo has posted more details and live photos of the phone.

This is a 3G model supporting UMTS networks. The phone is equipped with a 1-megapixel camera (the lens is located at the back panel) and an expansion slot for microSD (TransFlash) cards. Its LCD features 176x220 pixels and 262K colors. At sides you can see media player buttons. There is the support of MP3 and AAC formats.

It is also said that the business function is implemented well, but it’s unclear in which way. The menu is supposed to be like EF81 and SXG75. It’s still unclear when the new phone will be officially announced.

Samsung starts sales of its HSDPA phones this month    [ 22-06-2006 09:40 ]

The South Korean company Samsung Electronics has announced that this month there will start sales of a HSDPA model SGH-ZV50 in France, Italy and Germany. The SGH-ZX20 HSDPA phone for the North American market will be sold by Cingular operator (see below). In Korea there will be introduced the SCH-W200.

Samsung SGH-ZX20 supports almost all standard functions for the modern 3G cell phone, i.e. a 1.3-megapixel camera, HSDPA technology providing up to 3.6 Mbps data transfer speed, Bluetooth v2.0 and external storage cards. The American version will support quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and WCDMA networks, EDGE technology for 2G. The data transfer via HSDPA will be limited by 1.8 Mbps.

ASUSTeK Computer has officially introduced its cell phone ASUS M310. It stands out for its 2-megapixel CCD-camera with auto focus instead of ordinary CMOS cameras.

The M310 is packed in a clamshell form with two color LCDs and music buttons on the front panel. The internal LCD has a 2.2” diagonal and QVGA (240x320 pixels) resolution. The phone supports video write and read at 15 fps. There is Bluetooth interface.

The company paid attention not only to entertainment functions. There is organizer with 1000 entries and synchronization opportunity with desktop Outlook and a phone book capacious of 1000 entries.
