Against the background of customer's expectations of innovations, the makers do not hurry up to represent them; everything rests on grown delivery period and troubles with the customs. And that is why we have been watching advertisement of several new products on TV since November and still do not have them on the counters. Some "handbag"-sellers have already brought such devices and now sell twice or even four times more expensive than European retail prices. Alcatel OneTouch C552 
Such models as C551/C552 appear in the middle segment to replace Alcatel 556/557. The models are equipped with 32-tones polyphony; though support only AAC, but not MP3. The screen has the resolution of 128x160 pixels and shows up to 65K colours (STN). This screen type is good for its class; the colours are really vivid and look good. These are middle class models with a VGA camera, panoramic shoot mode, which also record video (and it can be assigned to a contact). The phones feature 3MB of memory and IrDA. The price is higher than for the rival phones. Elle by Alcatel/ Alcatel C652 version  
The company of Alcatel played as a phone maker for a French magazine Elle, and the task was to create a glamour phone. It all resulted in a version of the C652 for Elle, which distinguished in colours (black and white) and design elements like headbands and so on. You shouldn't expect high functionality of the phone, as that is an exclusively design work, and the lion's share of the price falls on the appearance. Technically, the model remains behind the market for about two years, and thus is really of no interest. This is a slim clamshell cast over by Motorola RAZR V3; however it has a memory card, supports EDGE and has a megapixel camera. The phone is targeted at women and possesses the functionality equal to Motorola RAZR V3. Considering its narrow niche direction, we cannot call the device a potential bestseller. Motorola C261 
This is a low-end phone standing out for its low price, but interesting design (no miniUSB connector and you can't use it as a GPRS modem). We can say that is a stylish solution for people economizing their budget. The model is likely to appear only in some trade points in December, which will make the price unwarrantably high. This is one of the first Nokia's sliders with little memory, a megapixel camera and integrated radio. Actually it acts as a fashion solution, and is positioned as cheap. It is based on the 40th platform and all other details come from here (the interface is maximum close to Nokia 6230i). Nokia 6270 
This is one of the first devices built on the Series 40 third edition, which distinguishes in a very flexible interface, but the memory bank is rather small. So, this is an interesting middle segment slider, which is capable of competing with Samsung phones. Now an elder model Nokia 6280 with some improvements seems a better alternative and a successful investment, this very model is capable of becoming a bestseller. In the end of October the company of Pantech released two younger Slim models, and elder models from the same series are to appear in the end of December. Pantech PG-3500 is a double-screen clamshell. Its little thickness of 16.45 mm is the main advantage. Besides, the handset is very functional and has a 1.3 MP camera, Bluetooth 1.2 and supports T-Flash memory cards. Pantech PG-3600 
This is a slider model with the main advantage of little thickness of 16.8 mm. The handset is unique as even having reduced the thickness; the developers didn't change other dimensions, in contrast to, for instance, Samsung D800/D820 and Voxtel 1iD, where the reduced thickness resulted in the increase of other dimensions. Let me introduce the renewal of the Xenium line, however the main difference is an improved internal screen and a 1.3 MP camera. However, these improvements are only an attempt to follow the tendencies, as the realization is of poor quality. Due to long battery life the handset is rather overpriced. In looks this phone resembles a business handset, however, actually is a youth model with FM-radio, an mp3 player and EDGE. And traditionally perfect screen and polyphony in combination with a strict design make the model extremely interesting. Rivals lose if not in functionality, then surely in the realization quality. In fact, this is a copy of Samsung D720 in a clamshell form factor. Technically it also belongs to the previous generation of smartphones and has a small screen, but stands out for its small size and weight (this is the smallest smartphone for the moment). Voxtel 1iD 
Voxtel 1iD is a thin slider with the thickness of only 15.8 mm. However the reduction of the thickness told upon the other dimensions and the phone got wider and longer - 104x51x15.8 mm. Based on the hardware platform of Voxtel V500, this phone only got a Bluetooth 1.2 module and a T-Flash memory slot. Voxtel VS600 
Like the predecessor in the person of the VS400, Voxtel VS600 is designed as a slider. In contrast to the previous 400th model, the handset is now equipped with automatic finishing mechanism, the guiding rails are of metal but not plastic. Besides, it has a1.3 MP camera, Bluetooth (which works only with a headset) and support for miniSD memory cards (up to 1 GB, and the VS400 supported only up to 512 MB ones).
